Lierse and Standard reached an agreement on Monday night over the transfer of Eiji Kawashima to Standard Liège. The deal has been signed by both parties.
C.E.O. Jesse De Preter:"We are happy to make this deal. Between the clubs there was a fast and professional contact. Eiji acted always as an outstanding professional in our club, and we are happy for him that he can make this step forward in his career. Eiji himself was keen on a transfer for some weeks now, so this was the best solution for both parties."
Eiji Kawashima himself wanted to give a reaction to the Lierse supporters: "Dear Lierse supporters. I've been playing for Lierse for 2 years. And I appreciate all your support. Because when there were difficult times, I've heard you guys shouting my name by my side. It always gave me confidence and encouraged me. It was not easy sometimes but I was always proud to get through all those difficult moments with you. I have now signed a new contract with Standard Liege. It means it's time for me make a step forward as a player. But these 2 years playing for Lierse made me grow as player and especially as a person. These 2 years with you became part of my life and I hope it became part of your life as well. Again I appreciated everything immensely, and I hope we’ll see each other soon in a football stadium."
